Exposição de pintura no Auditório Municipal de Olhão
MARTINS LEAL nasceu em Olhão em 1946. Fez a sua primeira exposição na sua cidade natal em 1965. De 1965 a 1968 frequentou o curso de pintura na Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa. Conta no seu currículo com uma centena de exposições individuais e coletivas, em Portugal e no estrangeiro. Está representado em coleções particulares e museus regionais. Atualmente desempenha a função de monitor no Centro de Pintores Olhanenses. Em 2008, o Município de Olhão criou o Prémio Pintura Martins Leal, no âmbito das Comemorações dos 200 anos da revolta olhanense contra as tropas francesas. Foi duas vezes nomeado para Prémio Imprensa Regional. Foi-lhe atribuída Medalha de Mérito Grau Ouro pelo Município de Olhão pelos serviços prestados à cultura.
“A Ria Por Horizonte” A presente exposição de Martins Leal é a prova acabada da vitalidade de um artista que, preso ao seu torrão natal, não deixa, como tantos outros, arredar o coração do aqui e agora que é a vida de todos nós. “ Ver o mundo pelo rio da sua aldeia” como queria Fernando Pessoa é, no caso de Martins Leal, ver a Ria Formosa, onde cresceu e brincou como tantos olhanenses. MARTINS LEAL born in Olhão in 1946, Martins Leal held his first exhibition in 1965 in his native city. From 1965 to 1968 he attended the course in painting at the Higher Scool of Fine Arts in Lisbon. Throughout his career he has participated in around a hundred individual and collective exhibitions both in Portugal and overseas. His works can be found in private collections and in regional museums. Currently, Martins Leal is an instructor at the Centro de Pintores (Artists` Centre) in Olhão. In 2008, the Municipality of Olhão created the Martins Leal Prize for Painting as parto f the commemorations held on the occasion of the bicentennial of the restoration. He has twice been nominated for regional press prizes and the Municipality of Olhão awarded him a gold merit medal for services to culture.
“The Ria as Horizon” This exhibition by Martins Leal is definite proof of the vitality of an artist who, captive in his native land, does not, like so many others, let his heart leave the here and now, which is what all our lives are like. “Seeing the world through the river of one´s village”, as Fernando Pessoa wanted, is, in the case of Martins Leal, seeing the Ria Formosa where he grew up and played like so many people from Olhão. The works that are on display here are for this reason essential for an art that is “ours” to be able to flourish and mature in full awareness of the universality that links them to other peoples.
