Starting on New Year's Eve 1980, this band played Beatles songs from the outset. It was formed for that and still continues to do so. The lads were one of the first (later to be named) "tribute" bands, but have never tried to look or talk like the Fab Four. ACCRINGTON STANLEY just enjoys playing the music of the Beatles.
By 1985 the band had played on television for both BBC and ITV, spent five weeks playing and recording in Phoenix, Arizona in the United States and included a session in Las Vegas. The band has been featured regularly on Local BBC Radio, playing live on several occasions.
By 1990, the band had performed the whole of the Sergeant Pepper album live, the whole of Abbey Road live, done a show of hit singles, all in front of theatre seated audiences.
By 1995 ACCRINGTON STANLEY had presented and performed a theatre show of John Lennon songs and another featuring the music of Paul McCartney.
