O IV Ciclo de Música Antiga Sons Antigos a Sul (SAS) conta neste ano de 2015 com a sua 4ª edição, sendo um projecto de promoção e divulgação da Música Antiga no Algarve, dirigido pela Academia de Música de Lagos, e envolvendo ensembles profissionais nacionais e internacionais dedicados à música antiga.
O projecto está inserido no Programa de Apoio Sustentado às Artes e Espectáculos, estrutura financiada pela Direcção Geral das Artes, com o apoio da Secretaria de Estado da Cultura.
Foi também reconhecido neste mês de Maio, com o rótulo de qualidade EFFE [Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe], da EFA [European Festivals Association], um projecto piloto da Comissão Europeia que procura distinguir e dinamizar os melhores Festivais de toda a Europa.....

The Early Music Festival Sons Antigos a Sul [SAS]is a unique project of AML, on the promotion of Early Music throughout the whole South of Portugal, which aims to introduce this genre to wider public appreciation.
The first series happened in August 2012, and gave privileged access to culturally and historically valuable spaces, affording original acoustic sound throughout every weekend of August. 
This cycle continues to embrace the Ermida da Guadalupe, recognized Portuguese heritage site, but this year extends its venues to several sacred places in Lagos, such as Igreja de Santa Maria, Igreja de D. Sebastião, Igreja da Luz and the historical military fortress Forte da Ponta da Bandeira [Lagos].
The repertoire is always performed by national and international specialists in the fields of Early Music, using historical instruments.
In 2015 the Festival will promote also one Young Talent Ensemble, in partnership with the Royal Conservatory The Hague [The Netherlands]. The SAS 2015 theme honors the 600 years of the Portuguese Maritime Expansion 1415-2015.
The SAS’15 has been recognized by EFFE [Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe] International Jury to receive the first generation EFFE Label 2015-2016’, thus belonging to one of Europe’s finest festivals. EFFE is a European Commission pilot project for a European Platform for Festivals in the field of culture initiated by the European Festivals Association (EFA), the umbrella organization for festivals across Europe and beyond, and will run 2014-2015.
